Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor as well as producer and director. Her name has been acknowledged for films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. The path to acting began on Broadway through a myriad of Broadway and Off Broadway productions. From her early years she's been passionate about acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. The mumps caused her to lose her hearing in one of her ears, but this was not enough to stop the actress from fulfilling her dream. While in college, she studied drama, she moved into New York City with her ambitions to achieve them. Through a random encounter, she was stuck in an elevator with writer Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart that made Hunter's debut. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. The role she was offered came as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in a number of movies, television shows as well as movies throughout the span of a 30 year career. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
